Since 2012, the Archive of the Faculty of Arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (AFA) has brought together the archives of the School of Art, the Institute of Music, and the School of Theater, academic units belonging to the faculty. Its objective is to contribute to generating a synergy of projects and materials, as well as to establish an institutional policy, thereby contributing to the development of teaching, research, dialogue with related organizations, and engagement with the community.
The archive has defined its mission as managing, preserving, conserving, promoting research and enhancing the value of the documentary heritage safeguarded by the Faculty of Arts under the auspices of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Our archive, unique in the country, responds to the administrative needs and demands of the academic units that support it. This collection is a valuable resource that allows us to reconstruct the history of the arts in Chile and its future projection from an educational, institutional, disciplinary, cultural, historical, social, and political perspective.
The AFA seeks to be a relevant actor in the construction of the artistic and cultural memory of our country, as well as to democratize access to information and documents for the knowledge society.
